Today marks 17 years since we said our earthly goodbyes, yet it feels like just yesterday. Your presence, laughter, and wisdom have been deeply missed, especially in moments that begged for your comforting words and warm embraces.

Interestingly, today I am the age you were when you passed away, and tomorrow I will have lived a day longer than you did. This milestone has me reflecting on life, love, and the transient nature of our earthly journey. I find myself amused thinking about how you would react to seeing me now, navigating through life, just like you did until your last day.

Your grandson Jamir has been a beacon of light and a daily reminder of the love and resilience that you embodied. There’s so much of you in him – your kindness, your laughter, and your indomitable spirit. I see you in his eyes, hear you in his laughter, and feel you in his love. I only wish you could witness the incredible person he’s becoming.

This past year has been particularly challenging, Mom. I found myself in the hospital, just like you were, and those moments were intertwined with memories of you, your strength, and your courage. In those trying times, I leaned on the faith and spiritual fortitude you instilled in me. I found solace in scriptures, just like you taught me to.

Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” was a constant mantra, bringing comfort and encouragement in those darker moments. I felt you there with me, whispering these words of faith and ensuring that I never felt alone.

There’s so much more to share, so many stories to tell you about, and countless moments I wish we could have experienced together. Your absence is felt, but your spirit lives on, guiding and protecting us every day.

Mom, thank you for the love, the lessons, and the legacy you left behind. Your light continues to shine brightly within us, ensuring that you are forever in our hearts.

With eternal love and cherished memories,
